America! U.S Presidents and Symbols

AMERICA! AMERICA!
We learned all about U.S Presidents and Symbols!

This can all be found in my AMERICA UNIT!

We made these ADORABLE
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln Faces!

LINCOLN LOG RHYMING!
This is a great activity to help with rhyming.

Students read the two rhyming words in the cloud
and listen if they rhyme with the picture on
Lincoln's Log Cabin. If they all rhyme, they put a penny "heads up" on the door.
If it does not rhyme, they put a penny "tails down" on the door. I let the kiddos use whisper phones.
You can purchase whisper phones at Lakeshore Learning but I made my own out of PVC pipe.
See how HERE.

This is my daughter Makena practicing!

We learned all about becoming a president with this interactive activity at Scholastic.
Click below:

After, we made a class book,
"If I Were President" I would...

Then, we made and read our own book "If I Were President".

We used red, white and blue cards to create words with
word families and letters.

We learned all about U.S Symbols!

We made these adorable U.S Symbols.
I have step by step directions in my TPT unit.

We compared and contrasted U.S Symbols and Global Symbols.

In small groups, students sorted U.S Symbols and NOT U.S Symbols

During WORK on WRITING for the Daily 5,
students did "U.S Write the Room".

We read books about U.S Symbols

We looked at coins and observed
Presidents and Symbols on them all.
This is all in my TPT unit!

We sang this MONEY POEM (again in my TPT unit).
You can listen to this song on YOUTUBE at Teacher Tipster.

I made a life size ABRAHAM LINCOLN and we compared how tall we were with him.
The kiddos loved this!

Valentines with Splat the Cat

Happy Valentine's Day from Kinderworld!

We are celebrating Valentine's with
SPLAT THE CAT!
The activities and craft are based off the book
"Love, Splat" by Rob Scotton

Purchase my Splat the Cat Valentine's Unit
HERE onTPT

This is a preview  of what is in my
Valentine's Splat the Cat Kit on TPT

We make this adorable Splat the Cat craftivity.

We make Splat's Friendship Fruit Salad together!
The kiddos can write a recipe for
Splat's Friendship Fruit Salad

The kiddos bring in various pieces of fruit. We talk about what it means to be a good friend.
In the story "Love, Splat",
Splat and another cat argue over Kitten.
We talk about kindness, fairness, loyalty, niceness,
sharing and love.
When "mixed" all together, a great FRIENDSHIP is made!
(a sign-up list and writing templates are included in my TPT unit)

Splat the Cat has a big crush on Kitten.
He writes her a love letter in the story.
We make a class book of LOVE LETTERS
 using these templates
(all found in my TPT unit)

We write the room with Splat!

We compare and contrast
Pete the Cat and Splat the Cat
using a Venn Diagram

We also sort and graph with Splat
using conversational hearts.

I put these covers on the front of the boxes.

We play SPLAT-GO!
This is sight word Bingo with Splat the Cat.
We use conversational heart candies to cover the hearts.

This is one of my FAVORITE activities!
LOVE POTION!
This is a science experiment using dry ice and red fruit punch.
The template is found in my TPT unit.
